THIS IS WHERE THE BIO-COAL REVOLUTION BEGINS

We develop technologies with the future in mind. Our plants convert biogenic waste into clean Bio-Coal.

THE SOLUTION FOR RECYCLING BIOGENIC WASTE – EVEN IN LARGE QUANTITIES.

The ever-growing waste quantities worldwide cause rising CO2 emissions.

Our international team of seasoned scientists and engineers has created a technology for organic waste treatment in this existential field in order to stop uncontrolled (Methane causing) decay of biogenic waste and to convert this waste into a safe, sustainable and salable product.

Our committed and highly experienced team developed the strategy to cope with the flow of waste, as well as to convert large volumes of waste into Bio-Coal.

OUR TEAM

DIPL.-ING. KLAUS SERFASS

General Manager

Over the course of his 43-year career, Klaus Serfass developed waste water treatment and swarf treatment systems and brought them to market.

Since 2007, he played a significant role in the research project of the DBU (The German Federal Environmental Foundation) pertaining to the HTC technology, having completed the project successfully.

In 2011, he co-founded the German Federal Association "Hydrothermale Carbonisierung e.V." as its chairman, a position he held until 2020.

In 2014 Klaus Serfass designed a small commercial mobile “Proof of Concept” plant to showcase our VTC Technology. The plant was then built as a “State of the Art” concept plant by our Partner DMS. Klaus Serfass then transferred the mobile plant to Rudong, China and successfully performed several tests with different biomass feedstocks, including household waste over a period of ~2 years.

Klaus Serfass continues to advise the industry, he is also presently still fully committed to the association.

Klaus Serfass founded KS-VTCtech GmbH in 2017 in order to handle carbonization projects both in Germany and in cooperation with ITT, worldwide.

DIPL.-ING. (FH) TIMO GARRELS

Chief Engineer of Design & Construction

After his studies in Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, Timo Garrels worked for a large German waste management company as a project engineer and project manager in the field of mechanical-biological waste treatment systems, sorting and composting plants. He was also responsible for ventilation technology and exhaust air purification.

In 2011, he started a new position as a key account manager in an engineering company and was particularly responsible for renewable energy generated from biomass, for process and district heating supply and for the legal permit management. In this position, he was also involved in the development and implementation of the mobile “Proof of Concept” VTC plant.

In 2015 he founded his own engineering office and has since worked on several projects with Klaus Serfass. Timo Garrels has been responsible for the technical design and construction of our VTC systems since 2018.

Additionally, Mr. Garrels is certified as a Quality Manager (CCI) for DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and QM Auditor (CCI).

Our Canadian Partner

Mr. Waschke is the President/CEO of International Technology Transfer Inc. (“ITT”) and founder of PierWay Environmental International Inc., (ITT’s research arm).

Mr. Waschke’s academic career began in America, where he studied aircraft & industrial design engineering at the University of Mississippi, as a member of the Strategic Air Command, United States Airforce.

His private sector career began as aircraft and industrial design engineer, followed by senior management and executive positions with some of the world’s leading international industrial design firms. This included heading a Canadian public corporation as its Managing Director in Europe (1970-75), leading 5,000 design engineers in seven offices across Europe and South Africa.

Mr. Waschke studied process technologies in later years at the Technical University Berlin to further his knowledge in the Wastewater/Waste Industry, followed by several years of research and field studies in Europe.

Mr Waschke concluded his academic research in Canada in partnership with The National Research Council of Canada, The Scientific Research and Experimental Development Program Canada and in cooperation with The University of British Columbia in 2010.

Mr. Waschke holds a patent in Biosolids Treatment since 2007.

Our Canadian "Affiliate"

Itt International Technology Transfer Inc.

ITT is responsible for marketing, sales, implementation and commissioning as well as the first year of operation of VTC installations internationally, but exclusively for VTC installations in the english-speaking world.

When it comes to solving waste-to-energy, wastewater and water problems, as well as dealing with project economics, finances, development and planning, ITT can fall back and rely on seasoned specialists, as well as on senior engineers having held lead positions in large international construction projects.

Both companies discuss "their VTC technology” practically on a daily basis. Innovative exchange of ideas on further development of the technology, as well as local and international environmental issues on both sides are among the most important topics.

Both companies work independently of each other, but are there for each other at short notice even in the event of local or international bottlenecks and have unlimited equal use of their offices and staff at all times.
